Welcome
Interim Music Director
Meet Sean Knudson, St. Andrew’s new Interim Music Director. Sean was installed at the Sunday worship service on April 18. He served St. Andrew as a music intern in 2006-2007, so he’s a familiar face, and we are happy to have him back. He graduates from Carthage College on May 23 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. He will take this year off from formal music study and then go back in 2011 for masters’ work. (That’s why he’s interim – alas, we will only have him with us for this next year). He plans to apply at the Eastman School of Music, the Westminster Choir School, Julliard and Indiana University.
His main emphasis this year will be adding to his organ repertoire, while also getting some directing experience. His first love is choral music, hymnody – the practice of singing and composing hymns. While he is working with the bells, the choir and the service music, he will also be investigating some courses in finance. It seems he comes from a family of accountants, and now he will have some time to pursue that area of knowledge.
Be sure to introduce yourself to Sean and get to know this fascinating and talented young man. St. Andrew has been blessed in its music directors in the past, and with Sean, that blessing certainly continues!
